Popular Blood Bank
Popular Blood Bank is a place for collecting, screening, typing, processing, and storing whole blood, packed red blood cells, fresh frozen plasma and platelet concentrate.
Basement level. The first government registered hospital blood bank in Dhaka Metropolitan Area.
Who can donate
- Age
- 18 to 60 years
- Haemoglobin
- Greater than 12 gm/dl
- Weight
- Above 50 kg
- Donation volume
- 450 ml
Males can donate at every 3 months and females can donate at every 4 months if they are free from any disease.
Platelet apheresis donors
- Age: 18 to 60 years
- Weight: more than 50 kg
- Must not have taken Plavix / Ticlid within 14 days
Before you donate
- Avoid donating on an empty stomach.
- A gap of 20–30 minutes is desirable after a meal.
- Get adequate sleep beforehand.
- Do not donate if experiencing fever, or taking antibiotics, aspirin or blood thinners.
